This sign shows the times at which the prescription service is open every day. The issuance of refills for a controlled substance is prohibited by law in accordance with Plan II. The use of several requirements for the issuance of schedule II controlled substances under the conditions set out in the final rule ensures that the requirements are treated as separate issuance documents and not as refills of an initial requirement. Any separate prescription must be written for a legitimate medical purpose by a practitioner who acts in the usual profession. Each prescription must contain written instructions indicating the nearest date when a pharmacy can fulfill each prescription.
For more than 90 years, the McWhorter School of Pharmacy has been preparing life-changing pharmacists through pharmacy practice, scholarships and services. Prescriptions for Chedule III substances expire 6 months after the written date. During the 6-month period, five refills can be made. The recharging authorization can be transferred from one pharmacy to another within six months. A practitioner may issue a new prescription for Schedule III within 6 months, if necessary. In any pharmacy that is occupied by a single pharmacist, the pharmacist may temporarily leave the pharmacy or pharmacy without closing the pharmacy and remove trainees/externals and technicians from the pharmacy, if the pharmacist reasonably believes that the safety of controlled substances is maintained in his absence. If the pharmacist finds, after a professional evaluation of the pharmacist, that the dispensary should be closed while he is away, the pharmacist closes the pharmacy or pharmacy sector and removes all trainees/externals and technicians from the pharmacy while he or she is away.
During the pharmacist`s temporary absence, no prescription medication should be made available to a patient or the patient`s agent unless the prescription drug is a new or refillable drug, which the pharmacist verifies, has been made available to the patient and is not a consultation with a pharmacist. In periods when the pharmacist is temporarily absent from the pharmacy or service, trainees/externals and technicians may continue to perform the tasks that apply or are not authorized by law. However, any obligation by an intern/external or technician is verified by a pharmacist upon his return to the pharmacy.
